Overview

Quintairos, Prieto, Wood and Boyer, one of the nation’s largest minority and women owned law firms, has an opportunity in its Denver office for a legal assistant to join our expanding office. The individual in this role will. assist attorneys with fast paced litigation matters. This role will also provide administrative support for the Denver office in general.   This is a hands-on position that involves working collaboratively with attorneys, paralegals and clients.

 

The ideal candidate will have litigation experience, attention to detail, and have the desire to work in a fast-paced litigation group. Strong organizational skills a must. Responsibilities

  • Filing of pleadings in both state and federal court.
  • Maintain docketing for attorneys including assisting with calculation of court and discovery deadlines in accordance with state and federal rules.
  • Provide administrative support to attorneys assisting with processing invoices, coordinating scheduling of depositions including scheduling court reporters, and ensuring compliance with client preferences and guidelines.
  • Assist with opening new files including assisting downloading, printing, and organizing initial case documents and electronic files.
  • Assist attorneys with management of schedules including providing support coordinating travel, assisting with scheduling meetings, and managing attorney schedules.
  • Under attorney direction prepare correspondence and other written documents.
  • Assist with service of documents by coordinating and communicating with process servers.
  • Assure organization of files including maintenance and management.
  • Monitor files and escalate issues requiring attorney involvement.
  • Work as a team player with other support staff, assigned attorney team, and overall firm for appropriate coverage as needed.
  • Assist as need with answering phones and coverage of reception duties.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of firm policies and procedures

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of prior legal assistant experience supporting litigators in civil defense in a high-volume, fast-paced law firm environment.
  • CO State and Federal Court filing including E-Filing experience required.
  • Familiarity with Colorado State and Federal Rules of Civil Procedure preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications such as Excel, Word, Power Point and Outlook required.
  • Requires critical thinking skills, superior communication and organizational skills, decisive judgment, high attention to detail, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • High School Diploma or its equivalent required.

The Pay Range for this position in Denver, CO is: $21.63-$31.25 per hour.
